Client: Auckland Council
Location: Mt Roskill, Auckland
The works involved major conceptive landscaped stonework gardens and rock walls, exposed aggregate concrete walkway and cycle track following contours of the mountain slope, with cattle stops, lighting, palisade fencing, directional signage and a car park at the Dominion Road track entry.
The landscaping concept reflexes the heritage and character of the site, and appreciates the existing various archaeological, geological and cultural features. The work included the removal and relocation of 52 phoenix palms that were located within the alignment of the cycleway and footpath constructed from Dominion Road around and above the State Highway 20 and out into Roseman Avenue.
The design has improved public safe access, encouraging a greater use of the walkway/cycle track that connects with the network of established tracks throughout the Auckland city region.
